Press Release ::

Will the Statue of Liberty make the cut? WagerWeb.com releases odds on which will be the New 7 Wonders of the World.

San Jose, Costa Rica (March 20, 2007) – Can you name the Seven Wonders of the World? Probably not. Out of the ancient Wonders, only the Pyramids of Giza have stood the test of time. Not only that, but there is no record to prove that most of the original 7 Wonders of the World ever existed.

That is why the New Open World Corporation (NOWC) is holding a world wide contest in search of the New Seven Wonders of the World. To be included on the new list, the Wonders had to be man-made, completed before 2000, and in an "acceptable" state of preservation.

The 21 finalists include castles, temples, cities, monuments and tombs. “We have received a lot of interest on this proposition bet.” says Dave Johnson, CEO of WagerWeb.com. “The heavy favorites like Machu Picchu and the Pyramids of Giza have received a lot of betting action. A few of the underdogs like The Statue of Liberty and Timbuktu have received some unexpected action as well.”

WagerWeb betting odds on the New Seven Wonders of the World are:

Experts are Predicting a "More Active then Usual 2007 Hurricane Season"..Will they be right? WagerWeb.com Posts Odds on the 2007 Hurricane Season

San Jose, Costa Rica (April 9, 2007) -The only thing better then complaining about the weather is betting on it and making some extra cash to put away for the next rainy day. One of the Internet's biggest betting sites, WagerWeb.com is known for providing odds on more than just sports and they bolstered their diverse offerings this week by bringing back their popular hurricane odds.

Last year WagerWeb.com offered hurricane odds after the hurricane experts predicted an extremely busy hurricane season in 2006. That busy season never materialized though, as only five hurricanes were born in the Atlantic. This meant any bettors that trusted the experts? predictions saw their wagers get blown away.

"Last year many players lost a lot of money when the expert predictions came up short. This year early predictions are already calling for another active season, said WagerWeb CEO Dave Johnson. "We expect bettors once again to follow these predictions and bet 'Over' in many of our listed prop bets."

The first 2007 predictions were announced last week and called for another season "much more active than usual." Should bettors trust the experts' instincts again or venture out on their own hoping for another season of calm water?

2007 NASCAR Samsung 500

2007 NASCAR racing takes a break over the Easter weekend but returns to the track in Texas next weekend for the Samsung 500.

Jimmie Johnson locked up his third win of the season at Martinsville last weekend in the Goody?s Cool 500. Johnson beat Jeff Gordon by a nose (or a fender actually) at the finish line, but the second-place finish was enough to keep Gordon on top of the drivers standings. Gordon leads Jeff Burton by 28 points, while Johnson sits 60 points back in third spot.

Picking the winner in Texas may be more difficult then it was in Martinsville. The Samsung 500 has been run 12 times and each time a different driver has claimed the checkered flag. Last year the fastest driver was Kasey Kahne, while the year before that it was Greg Biffle. Both Kahne and Biffle are in desperate need of a win this weekend after getting off to very slow starts to the season.

The Texas Motor Speedway also plays host to the Dickies 500 but previous results from that race won?t be much help to bettors, as it has only ever been run twice. Carl Edwards won the inaugural Dickies 500 back in 2005, while Tony Stewart was the race winner last year. Stewart is always a contender to lead the pack in every race, but so far this season all he seems to have found is bad luck.

If the 13th running of the Samsung 500 proves to be the same as the first 12 (another first-time winner takes the checkered flag), Johnson looks like the best pick to do it. Johnson already has back-to-back wins this season and the way his car has been running this season he could be the man to beat at every race in the 2007 NASCAR schedule. He is the reigning Nextel champion for a reason after all.

Johnson may not have a victory under his belt at Texas, but he has had some success there. At last year?s Dickies 500 Johnson finished right behind Stewart in second place, while he logged a third-place finish in the Samsung 500 back in 2005. Also keep your eye on Gordon in this race. The current points leader is also looking for his first career win at Texas, but he has also raced well there with four Top 5 finishes during his career.
